What if I told you that eating a handful of this one delicious food daily could slash your heart disease risk by half?

And what if I also told you that this same food can also help to reverse diabetes and prevent prostate cancer? Not only that – it can help keep you lean, improve your sexual health, and cause you to eat healthier without even trying.

Would you think that’s impossible? Well, think again. I’ve never given you hyped up information in the past, and I’m not about to start now. Today I’m going to share with you the powerful and proven health benefits of walnuts.

Read on and I’ll share with you the optimal way to enjoy these powerhouses of health, nutrition, and taste to boot.

Heart Health Benefits

In a recent study from Yale University a team of researchers reported that walnuts improve the health of the lining of the blood vessels called the endothelium. And that’s a big deal because endothelial damage is a major predictor of heart disease.

And you don’t have to go nuts with walnuts to enjoy the heart protection benefits either. The Yale team found that just 2 ounces per day – a mere handful – of walnuts offered “significant” protection of endothelial health.

Another recent study followed more than 7000 people over many years and observed the impact of walnut consumption on health. What they found was that those who ate 3 or more servings of nuts such as walnuts each week had a 39 percent reduction in cardiovascular disease.

Stamp Out Prostate Cancer

Did you know that 70 percent of men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetimes? Fortunately, it’s rarely deadly. But all the same, wouldn’t you rather have no prostate cancer than take the risk?

The good news is walnuts offer powerful protection against prostate cancer. In fact, in one study eating 2 ounces of walnuts daily for 4 months began to reverse prostate cancer in the participants.

Protection from Diabetes

Next to heart disease and cancer, diabetes is one of the major threats to health facing men today. Of course there are lots of things you can do to protect yourself – and I’ve shared many of those things with you in other articles. But it’s always good to have yet another tool that you can use to give yourself added protection.

Once again, walnuts come to the rescue. In an Australian study participants with diabetes were placed on diets. They were divided into two groups. One group had walnuts. The other did not. Otherwise, their diets were the same.

Three months later the researchers reported that the walnut group had much better blood sugar control and reduced fasting insulin – a marker of improvement.

Eating Healthier without Trying

We’ve all heard the advice to eat healthier. I’ve given you lots of tips for how to eat healthier. But the trouble is that it typically depends on will power. And that’s where a lot of men fall down.

It’s easy to think about eating healthier, but it’s another thing to actually do it.

Walnuts appear to offer a unique benefit in this regard. Another study from Yale University found that when participants ate walnuts daily they naturally ate healthier. It’s almost hard to believe, but almost as if by magic, their diets became healthier.

Powerful Antioxidants

As if all the above wasn’t enough to send you out to buy a bag of walnuts, there’s more. That’s because of all nuts that have been studied, walnuts have the highest levels of antioxidants.

You probably know about antioxidants and why they are so important. Examples such as vitamin C and vitamin E help to protect your body against oxidative stress. As a result, they help your body to be healthier.

What is more, the antioxidants found in walnuts are unique, and researchers have reported that they are among the most powerful found in any food.

The antioxidants from walnuts have been shown to:

  • prevent liver damage
  • increase cognitive function
  • reduce inflammation

Not bad for a humble nut.

Make You Lean

We’ve probably all heard promises that you can “eat your way lean” if you only eat the right foods. It sounds too good to be true.

But with some foods it really is true, and it’s been proven by science. For example, the more fruits and vegetables you eat, the leaner you are likely to become.

In the same category with fruits and vegetables are walnuts.

There are quite a few studies showing that eating walnuts actually makes people leaner. For example, a Spanish review of 31 other human studies reported that those eating walnuts regularly can expect to lose 1.4 pounds on average.

And studies have shown that eating walnuts increases satiety. That means that walnut eaters actually feel full and satisfied sooner than non-walnut eaters. In fact, it’s been estimated that eating 100 calories worth of walnuts leads to eating fewer calories than would otherwise be eaten.

Go Nuts

The bottom line is adding modest amounts of walnuts – 1 or 2 ounces per day – to your diet can improve your health and help you feel better
